Curbside recycling
Collected every other week on your blue or green calendar week. Set the cart at the curb by 6 a.m. with the lid closed and the handle facing the house.
ROC City Compost
Free year-round food scrap drop-off for City residents. Fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, eggshells, bread and grains — no meat, dairy or pet waste at drop-off sites.
Monroe County ecopark
10 Avion Drive, Rochester, NY 14624 · Wed 1:00–6:30 p.m., Sat 7:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Electronics, batteries, bulbs, propane, textiles, sharps and pharmaceuticals need no appointment. Household hazardous waste requires one.
Bulk items and appliances
Furniture, mattresses and large appliances are handled through City bulk collection. Anything holding refrigerant — fridges, freezers, air conditioners — has to go to the ecopark or a scrap metal recycler.
